As the 2015/2016 season approaches its climax next week and the temperatures start to rise, Nathan Sundaresan claimed the overall winner’s spot in the annual A&E Corona Classic held at Awali Golf Club.
His impressive net score of 62 was closely followed by the 63 of second placed Tim Benyon.
With calm weather conditions, apart from a bizarre five-minute squall which affected the morning players, the standard of play was high and many players were later rewarded with handicap cuts.
Ahmed Al Naomi put in a creditable gross score of 72 to win the Medal and his net 67 was also enough for him to take first place in Flight One followed by Petri Kettunen with 68.
Two past captains came in first and second in Flight Two – Abdul Elah Fakhroo with 64 and David Bailey with 66. Clive Turpin headed Flight Three with 65, followed by Mario Carangan IV with 67.
At the prize giving, Club Captain Bill Scarth thanked A&E for their 44 years of sponsorship of AGC competitions.
Club Vice-Captain Kerry Diaper was tournament director.
