The popular handicraft Huarfana Festival is set to return to Bab Al Bahrain in April with the aim of promoting the kingdom’s rich heritage.

Artisans will be exhibiting different handicrafts such as basket weaving, production of traditional musical instruments and wooden boxes, pottery making, ship building and much more during the seven-day festival which is being hosted by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, said: “Bahrain will be on center stage next month as it hosts the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. It is the perfect time to host events during this period as it also coincides with the holidays of many neighboring countries.

“Our main aim, through such events, is to promote Bahrain as an ideal tourist destination resulting in the development of the vibrant sector and the overall economic growth.”

The event, which is held from April 12 – 18, is free of charge and will also include live performances by traditional bands.
