Ellissa’s island life

A week and a few days into the summer school holidays and everyone’s body clock appears to be running at different speeds. The two oldest children are going to bed later and later and waking up … later and later.

I now have the challenges of getting them out of bed before noon. The youngest one though, doesn’t seem to have read the memo which states if you go to bed later you wake up later. 6am is still a lie-in according to my ‘almost’ nine-year-old.

Attempting to get us all back on track to a reasonable bedtime hour and morning wake-ups I decided that we should all let off some steam and head to Bahrain’s new JumpUp Trampoline Park, situated in the Ramli Mall, Isa Town.

The attraction is suitable for people of all ages to experience the fun and freedom of bouncing! Not only does it have great trampolines but also a Dodgeball Court, a foam pit and lots more.

Parents can jump with their kids but, luckily, for me, I was able to simply watch mine fly from a seated balcony area whilst nursing a lovely Cappuccino.

The first hour flew by and the children still wanted more, so we extended our time for another hour. After two hours of non-stop bouncing they were exhilarated and exhausted, according to a Nasa study, jumping on a trampoline for 10 minutes is equivalent to a 30-minute run. The car ride home was beautifully quiet.

That evening the children went to bed fairly late but unfortunately the bouncing had little impact on my ‘almost’ nine-year-old’s morning wake-up routine. I guess that internal body clock is here to stay for a few more years.
