On Saturday members over the age of 50 played the annual Seniors Championship. The format is 18-holes stroke-play. As it is known, geriatrics need less sleep and wake early, the competition is held only in the morning, followed by a lunch-time feast … all this so Senior members could be tucked up in bed before it gets dark!
The overall winner was Diane Loney with a net 64 and gross 92. Runner-up was Tim Benton with a net 65 and gross 84. In third was Mark Hodgkinson with net 65 and gross 83 followed by Paul Anderson with net 68 and gross 86. Fifth was clinched by Lynn St. Lawrence with net 68 and gross 89. The ladies, Kay Smith, Nicola Bailey, and Lynn St. Lawrence made a clean sweep of the nearest the pin side prizes.
Loney was wheeled around the AGC clubhouse by Captain Anderson to celebrate her victory clutching a prize walking stick.
