Gulf Weekly Disney On Ice booked for Eid extravaganza

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be performing in a live family musical show and taking audiences on a fun-filled tour of imagination and adventure when Disney On Ice presents Passport to Adventure in Bahrain, writes Stan Szecowka.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, the spectacular family ice show will be held from June 15 to 19 - during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays - at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

“It gives us a great pleasure to add one of the most extraordinary shows to our calendar of events. It will further position the kingdom as a leading family destination while offering visitors of all ages the opportunity to enjoy family entertainment in an unforgettable setting,” said Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority.

The timing could not be more perfect to attract locals and expats residing on the island as well as visitors from neighbouring countries as there is always huge demand for family tourism during the holiday period.

The ice show promises to be filled with magic in every scene featuring music from Disney’s acclaimed favourites Frozen, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Peter Pan. Four unique landscapes will be created and the stars of the show will ‘mirror the skills of Olympic athletes’.

Disney characters on the ice will include Simba, Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King, Ariel and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, as well as royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the Number One animated feature film of all time, Frozen.

“Bringing Disney On Ice to Bahrain for the first time will give families the opportunity to see their favourite Frozen, Little Mermaid, Lion King and Peter Pan characters come to life live on ice. We look forward to having families in Bahrain join us on this unique and spectacular adventure, creating memories which will last a lifetime,” promised Steven Armstrong, Feld Entertainment’s vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Passport to Adventure was created by a team of industry experts including award-winning choreographer Cindy Stuart, who collaborated with Olympic Gold Medalist Robin Cousins on multiple projects, Jerry Bilik, music coordinator for The 31st Annual Emmy Awards, and Patty Vincent who has been creative director for all touring Disney On Ice productions.

Tickets for Disney On Ice presents Passport To Adventure are now on sale starting from BD10, with family packages available, on manama.platinumlist.net. For more information, visit disneyonicebh.com.
