Witty wordsmith Shilpa Rita Mathew is hoping to spread positive vibes and inspire people of all ages with her first-ever book, now available at stores in Bahrain.

A-Z Life Quotes by Dr Shilpa Rita Mathew, a collection of inspirational quotes, is intended to motivate people and, in particular, encourage younger audiences to move through rougher patches in life and achieve their dreams.

“I host a Facebook page titled ‘Positive Vibes with Author Shilpa’, where I post inspirational quotes,” Shilpa, a lecturer, blogger and author with a PhD in Human Resource Management, told Gulf Weekly.

“It was one of my friends who proposed writing a book compiling all these quotes.”

The book is organised alphabetically, based on the first letter of each quote, accompanied by a discussion of each quote.

“The starting letter of the quotes are arranged in alphabetical order to make the book more interesting,” she explained. “For each letter of the alphabet, you will find two quotes which will create 52 different quotes along with their explanations.”

Every quote is a distillation of the many people with whom Shilpa has crossed paths with in her journey through life.

It took Indian expatriate Shilpa six months to write the book, followed by the editing and publishing process, which took another four months.

“There is no specific order to read this book,” the author, who has been residing in Bahrain for the last seven years along with her family, added.

“Readers can open any page and re-read the book as often as possible to get inspired.”

One of Shilpa’s favourite quotes in the book is sure to resonate with younger adults, in particular as she encourages them, “Let us be the pioneer of the future and not the prisoner of the past.”

The 35-year-old author plans to work on her next book after a short break.

When asked what advice she would offer to aspiring authors, Shilpa added: “Writing a book is a process which needs a lot of patience, focus and dedication.

“You can release your work through any publications or even self-publish the same through Amazon.”

Shilpa also holds a Masters in Computer Applications and Business Administration. She lives in Bahrain with her husband George Varghese, and their two children, Janet and Jeff.

The book is now available on Amazon, with physical copies on sale at The Book Mart in Dana Mall and Jidhafs, as well as the National Book Shop in Hoora.
