FUN and exciting workshops covering a range of activities are back at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
A Traditional Chest Making Workshop will teach participants how to identify types of wood used for manufacturing chests, how to chop wood and mould accessories. The chests, popular in most Arab countries, is also used to store clothing and personal items.
The workshop will be held on Saturdays, from 10am to 12.30pm in English and Arabic for those aged 18 and above.
A Staff Palm Tree Leaves Weaving workshop will train participants in various types of staff and sewing techniques. This art is considered traditional and is still practised in some villages in Bahrain, such as Karbabad, Al Jasra and Budaiya.
The classes will be held on Saturdays, from 10am to 12.30pm in Arabic and English for those aged 14 and above.
Another workshop will shed light on the types of wood used for manufacturing ship models including Al Banoush, Al Shuai, Al Boom and Al Baghlah.
Participants will learn to chop wood and create the ship model, draw and carve pieces of wood and configure ship attachments. It will be held on Saturdays, from 10am to 12.30pm in Arabic and English for those aged 14 and above.
A workshop on the Art of Decoration and Engraving on Gypsum will be held every Saturday this month, from 10am to 12.30pm. The sessions will take place in Arabic and English for those aged 14 and above.
