Euro Motors staged a Ferrari Social Event at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Spa's Al Khayma and allowed local journalists to test drive some of the most expensive and fastest road cars in the world.

Among the fortunate drivers was GulfWeekly editor Stan Szecowka who took off in a white four-seater with a rich Ferrari-signature red leather interior.

As he signed the insurance document one of the young women on the event's reception area looked up and whispered: "now that is sexy". The words were not meant for our suave and sophisticated leader, but rather were her way of describing the roar of the engine as the starter button was pressed on one of the cars.

"It was the only time in Bahrain that I wanted the traffic lights around Seef to go to red to allow me to pose and roar off into the distance! They are wonderful cars and I have to agree, mine did have a mightily sexy roar," said Stan.

For the uninitiated, Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1928 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles in 1947 as Ferrari S.p.A. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing especially in Formula One where it has enjoyed great success.

Luca Di Montemozolo, the Ferrari president, has visited EuroMotors, the Ferrari dealership in Bahrain. He was given a tour of the showroom by the managing director Zayed Al Zayani and the general manager, Paul Yates.

Earlier this year, a Ferrari Pilota course was held at Bahrain International Circuit for Ferrari clients. The instruction team was made up of professionals trained in high performance car driving. They conducted a session with guests to give them a sense of this supercar's engineering quality.

In the Sitra showroom drivers can check out two fine examples, the 599, the brand's two-seat flagship, for BD128,000 or the Scuderia at BD105,000.
