The Octavia is Skoda's mid-size sedan that is available in two body styles, sedan with a glass lift gate and also as a station wagon.

From the front, the designers have created a car that they say 'seems to be smiling' albeit with a hint of aggressiveness via the angular fog lights and two piece-split radiator grille.

The design features continue towards the side of the car, with the 16 inch six-spoke alloy wheels and high performance tyres.

The side mirrors with integrated turn-indicator lamps are styled to afford the best aerodynamic properties, and still large enough to provide the driver a great view of either side without any hint of a blind-spot.

Arguably the finest attribute of the Octavia is its interior. It has a striking design infused with the type of materials that one can only expect to find in a luxury sedan.

A leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel offers controls for the audio and cruise control. The centre console houses controls for the automatic air-conditioning system and the touch-screen multimedia 'infotainment' system that integrates the satellite navigation, DVD player and CD/MP3 slot.

The new Octavia comes equipped with a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine that's mated to a 7- speed DSG dual clutch gearbox, which is a first for a car in this price range. The four-door sedan can accelerate from standstill to a 100km/h in 7.8 seconds.
