Airport rolls out ambitious plans

The kingdom’s international airport is planning to pull out all the stops and sell its future expansion plans to a world-wide audience as excitement grows over the biggest aviation event ever to be staged in the skies over Bahrain.

 

Bahrain Airport Company, a Mumtalakat flagship holding, is at the forefront of participating in Bahrain International Airshow 2010, due to be held in Sakhir from January 21-23.

 

“We are pleased to be participating in this major launch event, as it forms part of our plans for the future of Bahrain International Airport and the national aviation industry as a whole,” said Dr Osama Al Ali, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company.

 

“BIAS 2010 is set to be a huge milestone for Bahrain, boasting a host of participants including Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Rolls-Royce.

“Bahrain Airport Company is a cornerstone in Bahrain’s aviation industry, and we are looking forward to sharing our plans with other stakeholders within the industry through this elite event.

 

“We are strongly committed to uplifting the kingdom’s aviation sector and sustaining Bahrain’s position as an inter-continental hub through operational excellence and world-class facilities. Our goal is to transform Bahrain International Airport into a regionally-renowned and globally-competitive player within the industry.”

 

The company is responsible for managing and operating Bahrain International Airport and plans to improve its infrastructure and financial performance and make it a major contributor to the economy.

 

Plans include building extra capacity and the utilisation of state-of-the-art information and communication technology. Additional facilities for VIPs, a new general aviation terminal, new commercial facilities, as well as hotels, conference centres, retail and recreational facilities will also be provided.
