MEDICAL tourism specialists Bahraini German International Medical Care has been celebrating the sixth anniversary of receiving its business licence to offer a new kind of patient aid in the kingdom.
At the time no other company was registered as offering services in the health tourism industry. Today Bahraini entrepreneur Mohammed Al Sharqi and his business partner Birgit Hobaugh from Germany are helping people to travel all over the world for leading and cost-effective treatment.
“Most of our customers are seeking help because they have visited many doctors already,” Birgit explained. “Our ‘medical care’ department makes a huge effort to search and find the perfect specialist and treatment for each patient.
“We have many consultants who are working with us. You can never find all specialists in one hospital, for that reason we are always searching for the doctor and not for the hospital.
“We have helped people in all medical fields, and I am proud to say that nobody has returned disappointed. Sometimes it is just a new medication that helps the sick person, but mostly difficult surgeries are needed.
“I have seen patients in very dangerous situations and I am so happy when they return with a loud ‘Mashkoora’ full of thanks for the referral and services received.”
Most customers are referred to Germany but Bahraini German International Services (the company’s name was changed after its travel & tourism and trade departments were opened), based in Gudaibiya, can offer services to other countries as well, depending on patients’ needs.
Translators are also available to ensure language is no barrier to treatment. Birgit added: “I am also happy to see that many new top quality medical facilities are being opened in Bahrain and our future plans are to help develop health tourism here and to offer medical treatments for international patients.”
