Last week's Breef Show Jumping Championships held at the Mounted Police Centre in Budaiya saw a huge turnout on an absolutely glorious day.
Eleven of the 23 riders that took part in the first class Green Horse/Rider Clear Round claimed a rosette each. This class had fences up to 80cms.
The second class was the Junior C, with fences between 80 and 90cms. Competing against 23 other riders, in a one round, then jump off; it was Abdelkarim Chena riding Wansharees in a time of 29.14s who took home first prize.
Oscar Lauri, on Emily, one of his two mounts of the day, took first place in the Junior B class, with fences between 90 and 120cms.
After a brief interval, the competition really heated up with some 42 entries in the Senior C class.
It was Jassim Isa Al Qattan riding Kuwait who claimed victory in the speed class as Jassim completed his round brilliantly with no faults in a time of 41.36s.
Then the final, most prestigious class of the day, the Senior B, saw another 30 riders in the fray, and this time it was Benny Diricx who fought off all the other contenders for victory.
Diricx, riding Al Khalidiah Mikaela, beat his closest rival Salem Ali in the jump off with a time of 38.98s.
A brilliant day with thrills and spills, we look forward to the next Breef Show Jumping competition scheduled for January 29.
