What a fantastic weekend for sport! It started with the early arrival of Diwali (festival of lights), or at least it seemed that way as the sky lit up and millions of people took to the streets adorned in the three colours of India following their deserved victory against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup, writes Abu George.
Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara was forced into several changes as a result of an injury to all-rounder Angelo Mathews. The replacements, Nuwan Kulasekara and Suraj Randiv were unable to contend with two well-paced and disciplined innings from Gautam Gambhir and man-of-the-match and Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
