FIFTY intrepid golfers, each equipped with only two clubs plus a putter, braved a sandstorm to compete for the Awali Football Club's Mubadala John Gunby trophy.
Organised by Awali Football Club and held at Awali Golf Club this annual 9-hole competition has been running since 1985 and proceeds raised on the day help to fund the club's kids' football training programme.
Results: Overall winner - Peter Rogers; 1st gent - Mike Cook; 1st lady - Susan Scott; 1st non-handicapper - Mark Farrell; highest-placed handicap golfer outside the main prizes - Paul Beaumont; Nearest the Pin on 4th hole 'Cardiac' - Bill Beddall; 14th hole 'Missile Creek' - Susan Scott; Prize for 'most golf' - JJ Sr.
