Michael Schumacher was left with a 'positive' feeling from his sixth-place finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix, although the Mercedes driver admits he still needs to adapt his driving style if his Formula One comeback is going to succeed.

The seven-time champion started seventh and had an error-free drive as he finished 44 seconds back of race winner Fernando Alonso of Ferrari in his first race since 2006. Teammate Nico Rosberg finished fifth.

"All in all I have a positive feeling after my first race," Schumacher said. "Especially at the start after I was a little bit cornered. But it worked well."

Schumacher believed new regulations played a big part in his performance as several drivers said that a refuelling ban had cut overtaking opportunities - just the opposite of what F1's rulemakers had intended.
